Amy Carlson
Hawai‘i senior Amy Calrson (Bellevue, Wash./Golden Wast College) averaged 11 saves per match last week to earn Big West Women’s Water Polo Athlete of the Week Honors.

Carlson led the Rainbow Wahine to a 2-1 weekend while tying her career high 11 saves in a 9-8 overtime affair over conference foe Long Beach State en route to a W in the Bows’ league opener.

As reigning Big West champions, Carlson dominated the net to allow just a single 49er goal as UH defended its 2013 title.

Versus Indiana the following day, Carlson set a new career-high with 14 saves to limit the Hoosiers to just three goals in the first three quarters of play.

Continuing her domineering trend, the senior recorded another eight saved over No. 1 USC.

The Bows are now 13-6 overall and a perfect 1-0 in conference play.

Others nominated: Marisa Young (Cal State Northridge); Chelsea Parks (Long Beach State); Danielle Warde (UC Irvine)
