Wade Rolls In Singles To Help Aggies To 3-0 Mark
James Wade (San Marino, Calif./San Marino HS) garnered Big West Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades as the UC Davis freshman emerged unscathed in singles and helped his team to a 3-0 mark.
Wade surrendered just eight games all weekend against three opponents as the Aggies dispatched Holy Names (6-1), Saint Mary’s (4-2) and Sacramento State (6-1). He posted a 4-1 combined record in singles and doubles, and his three singles victories last week extended his personal win streak to five straight.
Against Brook Workeneh of Holy Names, Wade earned a 6-4, 6-0 triumph at No. 3 singles and teamed with Brett Bacharach to claim a, 6-1, win against Andrew Amor and Jonah Tahilan at No. 3 doubles.
Wade followed that up with consecutive 6-1, 6-1 routs of Alex Hunt from Saint Mary’s and Sacramento State’s Oiiver Andersen, both from the No. 4 singles slot.
Wade, who is 7-1 on the season in dual singles matches, has led the UC Davis resurgence after the Aggies sustained an 0-4 start to the year.
