UC Santa Barbara junior Glen Scher (Westlake Village, Calif./Harvard Westlake HS) notched his third career tournament title and added a runner-up finish to earn the selection of Big West Men's Golfer of the Month for April.alt

Scher, who captured medalist honors at the Sacramento State Invitational in March, won his second tournament of the season when he shot a 2-under 138 at the wind/dust shortened Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Scottsdale, Ariz.  Scher carded an opening round 70 and a second round 68 on the Talking Stick Golf Club North Course to outperform a field of 126 golfers.  He beat out four others by two strokes for the title.

He returned to action two weeks later for the Winchester Classic in Meadow Vista, Calif. and helped the Gauchos to a fourth place finish in an 11-team field.  Scher finished second overall with a 5-under 211.  He carded three straight under-par rounds with a 71, 70 and 70 to narrowly miss claiming his third individual title.  Scher finished two shots back of the winner.

Scher shot under-par in four of five rounds and averaged a 69.8 for the month with no over-par rounds.  He has posted six straight top 10 finishes.
