Genee Captures Second Straight Women's Water Polo Honor

Senior Amarens Genee (Gorinchem, Netherlands/Gymnasium Camphusianum) helped Hawai’i clinch at least a share of the Big West regular season title with a game-high five goals in a win against Cal State Northridge, earning her a second straight Big West Women's Water Polo Player of the Week honor.alt

Genee came up big in the clutch as she scored three of her goals in the decisive fourth period to help UH surmount a 7-6 deficit to win 10-8 against the Matadors.  The win upped UH's conference record to 6-1 and assured the team the No. 1 seed at next week's Big West Tournament in Irvine.

After the Matadors held the Rainbow Wahine scoreless for the entire third quarter, Genee struck just 28 seconds into the the fourth to tie the game 7-7, then added two more goals in the ensuing three minutes to help UH to victory.

The performance against CSUN moved the center into third all-time on the UH career list with 175 goals.
