Pezzolla Leads Aztecs To Split at UCI Invitational

Senior Amber Pezzolla (San Dimas, Calif./Bonita HS) received Big West Women's Water Polo Player of the Week recognition as her nine goals against four ranked opponents helped No. 7 San Diego State gain a split at the prestigious UC Irvine Invitational.alt

The utility scored in all four matches in addition to three assists, eight steals and nine drawn exclusions.  She contributed to 42.9 percent of SDSU's offense (12 combined goals and assists on 28 goals)

Pezzolla was instrumental in victories against fellow Big West opponents No. 13 UC Santa Barbara (11-6) and No. 6 UC Irvine (6-5).  She notched four goals and added an assist against the Gauchos, handing them their second-worst defeat of the season.

Against the Anteaters, Pezzolla delivered a hat trick to account for half of the Aztec offense and cement the upset victory.  SDSU became the first Big West school this season to defeat the Anteaters.

Pezzolla added a goal apiece in losing efforts versus No. 2 USC and No. 4 California.
