Junior Carmen Eggert (San Rafael, Calif./Marin Catholic HS) provided all-around contributions to help UC Davis to a weekend sweep and earn Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week accolades for the second time this season.

Eggert was instrumental in Aggie victories over UC Santa Barbara (9-8) and Cal State Northridge (10-4) as the Aggies wrapped up the No. 2 seed and clinched a first round bye for the Big West Tournament.

Against the Gauchos, Eggert had a goal in the game but her most important efforts came on the defensive end.  She posted a 5-on-6 block with the score tied in the fourth, then field-blocked the Gauchos’ final shot at the buzzer that may have tied the game.

Eggert stepped up her offensive game with a hat trick against the Matadors, including two goals in 6-on-5 situations.

For the week, Eggert notched three assists, four drawn kickouts, five steals and two field blocks in addition to her work on offense.
