UC Davis goalkeeper Riane Woods parlayed a career-best performance into Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week recognition.
The junior notched a career-high 18 saves to lead No. 15 UC Davis to an 8-6 upset of No. 10 Maryland on Saturday.
Woods held the Terps, who entered the contest averaging 13.2 goals per game, to just 6-for-27 shooting. She had four blocks during 6-on-5 situations that played a huge factor in the outcome of the game.
The Aggies have now won a season-high five straight games with one more weekend of non-conference competition before Big West play begins.
Others nominated: Kelly Ringel (Long Beach State); Katie Zakula (UC Santa Barbara); Malena Prlain (Pacific)
