Top-10 Finishes Receive Monthly Honor

Long Beach State’s Kevin Roy and Cal State Fullerton’s Taylor Fowler both had top-10 finishes to start the spring season to be awarded the Big West Men’s and Women’s Golfer of the Month honors.

Senior Kevin Roy went 3-0 against No. 4 USC, No. 5 UCLA and UC Davis at the Del Walker Match Play Championship at Virginia Country Club in Long Beach.  The 49ers finished against UC Davis dropping the last match play (3&2).  At the Folino Invitational, hosted by Cal State Fullerton, Roy helped the 49ers claim the title with his second top-10 finish (T9) of the season and seventh of his career.

Fowler led the Titans in their host tournament, the Folino Invitational at the Industry Hills Golf Club in City of Industry with a career-best finish 221 (75-74-72), just one stroke shy of the individual title.  The women’s golf team received second place honors after Gonzaga posted a tournament best 293 on the last day to take a 13-stroke lead for the title. 

The Murrieta, Calif. native has lowered her scoring average from 84 to 76 in her two and a half years of play with the Titans.
