Sophomore utility Danielle Warde (Huntington Beach, Calif./Edison HS) led UC Irvine to an impressive victory over No. 10 Loyola Marymount to secure Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week accolades.

Warde extinguished a slump of sorts as she peppered the Lions with five goals in No. 7 UC Irvine’s 12-9 road win.  It was the second win in a row against the Lions, and the first ever at LMU’s pool.  Warde had scored just seven goals in the previous 10 matches prior to her outbreak.

The sophomore was especially productive in the first period with three goals.  Warde contributed in other areas, earning one penalty and two more exclusions in the game.  She also tallied three steals.
