Cal State Northridge freshman Marisa Young (Fountain Valley, Calif./Fountain Valley HS) led her team with eight goals in four games at the Triton Invitational to capture Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week honors.

Young delivered a pair of hat tricks over the two-day event hosted by UC San Diego.  She had a three goal performance in the opening game of the tournament, a 10-8 win against No. 15 Hartwick.  Later in the afternoon, she netted another three goals against No. 9 San Diego State in an 11-4 loss.

In a narrow 10-8 defeat to UC Santa Barbara for seventh place in the tournament, the center scored twice more to keep the Matadors close.

Young added two assists and three steals to go along with three field blocks for the week.
