UC Davis junior Matt Hansen and senior Demi Runas led their teams to impressive finishes to begin the 2012 season, earning them Big West Men's and Women's Golfer of the Month honors for September.
Hansen Records Top 10 Finish For Aggies
Junior Matt Hansen (Los Osos, Calif./Morro Bay HS) was the individual medalist for UC Davis in a pair of tournaments, as he claimed Big West Men's Golfer of the Month accolades for September.
Hansen tied for 11th overall at Washington's Kikkor Golf Husky Invitational and helped the Aggies to a fourth place finish among 15 teams. He shot 75-72-72 for a 219 total and his performance helped UCD finish ahead of ranked teams No. 7 San Diego State and No. 5 Oregon.
Just five days later, Hansen posted his first top 10 finish of the season at the Windon Memorial Classic in Glencoe, Ill. He tied for eighth overall after three consecutive rounds of 73. The Aggies tied for fifth among 15 teams.
It was Hansen's first top-10 finish since placing ninth at the SCVB Pacific Invitational Oct. 31-Nov. 2, 2011. UC Davis is ranked 26th by Golfstat.

Runas Earns Individual Medalist Honors at Golfweek Conference Challenge
Senior Demi Runas (Torrance, Calif./Torrance HS) was named the Big West Women's Golfer of the Month for September after claiming the individual crown at the Golfweek Conference Challenge.
Runas won by three strokes in a field of 90 golfers at the Golfweek Conference Challenge. She shot a tournament-record 67 (5 under) in the second round and ended up 7 under overall. UCD posted a second place team finish in the field of 18.
In the season-opening tournament – the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational – Runas posted rounds of 74-75-72 (221) to tie for 13th place and help the Aggies to a tie for second as a team.
For her efforts, Runas was named the Golfweek Player of the Week on Monday.
