UC Santa Barbara goalkeeper Ruth Milne broke the school's career saves record just two games into her junior season and had three double-digit save performances to claim the initial Big West Women's Water Polo Player of the Week award for 2012.

Milne eclipsed Yvonne Conard’s previous school record of 595 during a road match against Santa Clara on Friday.  Milne finished with 15 saves in the 9-4 win.

The Gauchos posted a 2-3 record in a busy opening week of action and Milne totalled 53 saves over the five matches, giving her 640 for her career.  She had her second 15-save effort against San Jose State and finished up the Spartan Invitational with 10 saves against No. 2 Cal.
