Cal State Northridge sophomore Thomas Ramos and UC Riverside senior Cody Suppé were honored as the Big West Men's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week as solid individual efforts helped their teams gain positive outcomes.
Ramos Keys Matador Comeback Against Cal State Bakersfield
Thomas Ramos (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle HS) helped Cal State Northridge engineer a comeback to eke out a tie with Cal State Bakersfield, securing Big West Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week kudos for the sophomore.
With the Matadors down 2-0 right before halftime, Ramos got his team on the board in the 44th minute after knocking home a shot from eight yards out.
The momentum carried over into the second half as Ramos collected a corner kick and distributed a pass teammate Brian Behrad, who knotted the score at 2-2 from five yards away. The three-point effort by Ramos was the first by a Matador since Oct. 2, 2010.

Suppé Notches Double-Digit Saves In Double Overtime Tie
UC Riverside’s
Cody Suppé (Chino, Calif./Ayala HS) delivered one of the top single-game goalkeeping performances in school history to claim Big West Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Suppé stopped 11 shots in Sunday’s 1-1 tie against San Jose State for the third-highest save total in UCR annals. He saved four shots in the Highlanders’ 2-1 triumph against UNLV on Friday.
He posted an .882 save percentage and registered a 0.90 goals against average for the week.
