UCD's Raber and LBSU's Hoey Begin Spring Season With Big West Award

UC Davis' Tyler Raber and Long Beach State's Simone Hoey earned the first Big West Golfer of the Month accolades for the spring season.

Raber kicked off the spring season with a three-round score of 214 (70-70-74) at the Amer Ari Invitational, tying him for 36th. Two weeks later he tied for 23rd at the Battle at the Beach tournament after scoring 214. He opened the three-day event with a team-best 68.

In his final event of February, the USC Collegiate Invitational, he carded a first-round score of 73 and bested his performance by six strokes with a four-under-par 67 in the final round. After starting the final round in 16th place, he tied for third overall, which is the best individual finish of any Aggie all year.

Hoey captured individual medalist honors at The Gold Rush, her first career tournament win, with a three-round total of 219 (73-74-72). The Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., native also led the 49ers in the Bruin Wave Invitational, placing 29th with a twelve-over 228. Hoey shot a season low round of 72 in each respective tournament.
