UC Santa Barbara's Russell Boring grabbed October's Big West Men's Golfer of the Month, while Noelle Zavaleta earned Big West Women's Golfer of the Month.
Boring, hailing from Westlake Village, Calif., recorded two top 10 finishes last month. He began October tying for 10th place at the Wolf Pack Classic after firing a three-round score of 221. He followed that up with a fifth place finish at the Bill Cullum Invitational after carding a career-best, five-under 211 in the three-round event at the Wood Ranch Country Club in Simi Valley, Calif. Boring's efforts guided the Gauchos to a fourth-place team finish at the annual tournament.
In Long Beach State's first tournament of the month, Price's "give 'Em Five" Invitational, Zavaleta totaled 229 to tie for 45th, while her team placed fifth. The Lakewood, Calif., native improved on her previous performance with an impressive three-round score of 215 at the Las Vegas Collegiate. Zavaleta opened the tournament firing a career-low 69, which vaulted the senior to her first Top 10 finish of the season and fifth of her career.
