Kristin McLaughlin (La Canada, CA/Crescenta Valley HS) recorded a hat trick in an important league victory over UC Irvine, propelling the Cal State Northridge senior to Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week honors.

McLaughlin scored the career-high three goals in the 11-9 double overtime win against the Anteaters as CSUN’s league record improved to 2-0.  She added four steals, two assists and a field block in helping the Matadors extend their winning streak to 10 straight games.

Her goal with seven seconds remaining in the third period tied the score at 6-6 with the Anteaters.  She also tallied an insurance goal in the first overtime to make the score 11-8 in favor of CSUN.

McLaughlin finished the week with a goal against No. 1 USC in an 18-6 loss. 

For the week, McLaughlin finished with four goals.
