Back-to-back hat tricks from Bridget Geck (Huntington Beach, Calif./Fountain Valley HS) helped Pacific capture a share of the regular season championship and earn the junior driver Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week accolades.

Geck’s scoring exploits aided the Tigers in their 8-7 win over No. 10 Cal State Northridge and 13-9 triumph versus No. 12 UC Santa Barbara.  The two wins moved Pacific to 4-1 in conference, tying the Tigers with CSUN for the league crown.  Pacific also earned the No. 1 seed in this week’s Big West Tournament by virtue of the win over the Matadors.

Her most important goal came with 2:39 left on the clock in the sudden victory period against CSUN.  That goal gave the Tigers an 8-7 win and kept CSUN from finishing league play undefeated.  She added a steal and a field block in that game.

Geck returned for another three goal outing in the win against UCSB.  That victory helped the Tigers go from worst to first in the span of a year after finishing in last place in 2009.

Others nominated: Jillian Stapf (Cal State Northridge); Krizia Cerda (Long Beach State); Christie Clark (UC Santa Barbara)
