UC Irvine's John Chin and UC Davis' Amy Simanton were awarded the Big West monthly golf awards as Chin claimed the Men's Golfer of the Month mention, while Simanton was given the women's honor.

Chin won his second consecutive monthly award after a stellar run for the Anteaters in March. The senior started the month by tying for first at the Fresno State Lexus Classic, shooting a 208 (75-67-66) for the event. Chin lost the overall title in a playoff round, but then captured medalist honors at the Barona Collegiate Classic. He shot 204 (65-71-68) for his second medalist honor of the season. Chin owns the lowest shot average in the Big West at 70.2 and has six top 10 finishes in eight tournaments this season.

Others nominated: Benjamin Lein, Long Beach State; Austin Graham, UC Davis

Simanton wrapped up March as the only Aggie to record two top five finishes. The freshman started the month by tying for second at the Fresno State Lexus Classic with a 217 (74-69-74), then followed that up with a fifth place finish at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational. At that tourney, she carded a 222 (74-73-75). Simanton also competed in a tough field at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, finishing at 237 (77-82-78) in a field that had 15 schools ranked in Golfstat's top 50. In all, Simanton led UCD in stroke average (75.1) during the month and her second round 69 at the Lexus was the low round on the team for the month.

Others nominated: Monica Villarreal, Long Beach State; Hillary Packard, UC Irvine; Amelia Ek, UC Riverside
