UCD's Kim, UCI's Chin Claim Monthly Golf Accolades

UC Davis' Alice Kim and UC Irvine's John Chin led their respective clubs to stellar finishes in February, earning the duo Big West Golfer of the Month accolades.

Kim, a native of Walnut, Calif., was the Aggies' highest finisher at the Peg Barnard Invitational hosted by Stanford. The junior shot 151 (77-74) over the two-day tourney, landing her in a tie for seventh among the 60 competitors. Her first round score tied her for team-best honors, while she led the club with her second day 74.

Chin, who hails from Temecula, Calif., picked up his second collegiate victory at the Anteater Invitational in the first of two tournaments UCI played in February. The senior carded a 202 (66-65-71), putting him at 11-under for the weekend and four strokes better than the second place finisher. His efforts led the 'Eaters to the team crown as well.

In his second tournament, Chin shook off an opening round 77 to finish at 216 (77-71-68) in the USD Callaway Invitational. The score put him in a tie for sixth overall, the fourth time that Chin has registered a top 10 finish this season.
