Cal State Northridge’s
Heidi Pettinger (Chino, Calif./Ayala HS) claimed Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week honors after leading the Matadors to a conference-opening win.
Pettinger scored three goals as the Matadors captured an 11-4 victory against Long Beach State in the Big West opener for both teams on Saturday. The sophomore added three steals, a field block and a kickout drawn.
In addition, she guarded the 49er starting center and held her to one goal. The victory for Northridge gave the program 20 victories for the second straight season.
