Pacific’s Dara Tawarahara (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani HS) stepped up against a couple of ranked opponents and was the team’s primary source of offensive production, earning the junior Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week accolades.

Tawarahara scored nine of the 24 goals the Tigers scored in three contests as the team went 1-2 on the week.  She also chipped in a pair of assists and three steals.

Her best effort came in an 11-4 loss to No. 3 California in which she accounted for all four Tiger goals.  Tawarahara also tallied three goals in a 10-9 loss to No. 16 Indiana and added two more in an 11-5 win against Harvard.

Tawarahara gave the Tigers an early 1-0 lead against Cal and handed out a key assist to Bethany Quertermous with 2:28 left in regulation versus the Hoosiers.  The goal by Quertermous tied the score at 8-8, sending the game into overtime.

Others nominated: Cortney Collyer (UC Irvine)
