Triton Invite Fifth Place Finish Garners Water Polo Award For Stapf

Cal State Northridge goalkeeper Jillian Stapf (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville HS) earned Big West Women's Water Polo Player of the Week honors after leading the Matadors to a 3-1 record at the Triton Invitational.

Stapf made 42 saves in the tournament's four games, including a season-high 16 against UC Santa Barbara in an 8-3 victory.  The Matadors clinched fifth place in the tournament with the win.

The senior tallied eight saves in an 11-7 win over Marist in the opening game of the Triton Invitational.  She also produced nine stops apiece in a loss to Hartwick and a win over Cal State Bakersfield.

She played three quarters against Marist and Cal State Bakersfield, giving up two and three goals, respectively.

Stapf allowed only 20 goals over the four games for a miniscule 5.0 goals against average.  She also blocked two 5-meter penalty shots against the Roadrunners.
