Cal State Northridge Sweeps Big West Golfer Of The Month

First place finishes by Nick Delio and Kylie Kimura helped Cal State Northridge sweep October's Big West Golfer of the Month award. This is the first accolade of the season for both golfers.

Delio posted a pair of top 10 finishes, which included top individual medalist honors at Cal State Northridge's home event, the Bill Cullum Invitational. Delio's first place finish at the Bill Cullum Invitational is his best career finish in the tournament and fourth individual win of his career.

While the Valencia, Calif., native concluded the month with a first-place performance, he opened October with a sixth place finish at the Santa Clara Cabo Collegiate. His three-round total of 214 included an impressive four-under-par score of 68 in the second round of play. For the month, Delio has averaged 70.33 strokes over six rounds, which includes three rounds in the 60's.

Kimura opened the month of October claiming the top individual medalist honor at the Cal Poly Firestone Grill Invitational with a three-round score of 221. Her best performance of the tournament came in the opening round as she fired 1-over-par 72. The Covina, Calif., native led the Cal State Northridge womens golf team to a first-place finish at the respective event.

A week later at the New Mexico State Price's Give 'Em Five Tournament, Kimura recorded her second straight top 20 finish. A three-round score of 222 landed her in 18th place and helped the Matadors secure eighth place in the team results. She currently holds a scoring average of 75.1 for the fall season, the Matadors' lowest average in five years.
