Cal State Northridge junior goalkeeper
Jillian Stapf (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville HS) was the catalyst in a key victory over UC Irvine that clinched a share of the conference regular season title, earning her Big West Women's Water Polo Player of the Week honors.
Stapf notched 14 saves in a 7-5 victory at No. 9 UC Irvine that forced a three-way tie for the regular season Big West title between CSUN, UCI and UC Davis. She held the Anteaters to their second-lowest goal total of the season as the Matadors capitalized by earning the No. 1 seed in the Big West Tournament.
She continued her outstanding play in a pair of home non-conference victories over Sonoma State and Cal State San Bernardino. In three quarters of play, she tallied nine saves against the Seawolves in an 11-4 victory. She added eight saves in three quarters of action to help CSUN to a 17-6 triumph versus the Coyotes.
Her 31 saves in the three games gave her a single season school record of 356 saves, which broke the previous record of 348 she established two seasons ago as a freshman.
