The Big West handed out the Women's Water Polo Player of the Week award to multiple recipients for the first time this season as
Lindsay Kiyama (Concord, Calif./Clayton Valley HS) of UC Davis,
Gianna Rossi (Fresno, Calif./Central HS) of UC Irvine and
Lindsey Pengilly (Stockton, Calif./Lincoln HS) of Pacific all had standout performances.
Kiyama posted six goals to pace the Aggies to a 4-0 record. She had a hat trick (on four shots) in a 12-7 victory at UC Santa Barbara on the inaugural day of Big West action. She chipped in with two more goals in a 6-5 overtime victory at Cal State Northridge. Kiyama also tallied three steals and an assist in the UCSB victory, and had five steals versus CSUN.
Rossi helped the Anteaters to a 3-3 mark with 13 goals, including three apiece against Brown and Arizona State. She scored a goal in all six contests to run her current scoring streak to 10 games, tied for the eighth longest in school history. Rossi scored two goals in a loss to No. 1 Stanford. Her 48 goals this season ranks No. 9 on the UCI single-season list.
Pengilly strung together three outstanding efforts protecting Pacific's net. She notched 16 saves in a 7-6 home win against Harvard. After a 12-save effort in a loss at No. 15 Cal State Northridge, Pengilly recorded 10 saves and two steals in a 4-3 win at No. 13 UC Santa Barbara. The win was the first in conference for the Tigers in over four years.
