Pacific freshman
T.J. Bordeaux (Tacoma, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) and UC Irvine senior
Selaneé Henderson (Apple Valley, Calif./Granite HS) were selected Big West Men's and Women's Golfers of the Month after both won tournaments during March.
Bordeaux became the first Pacific golfer to win an event since 2003 as he carded a 6-under par total of 210, winning the Oregon Duck Classic (March 24-25) title by five strokes. Bordeaux shot two blistering rounds of 68 to open the tournament and finished the Emerald Valley Golf Course layout with a final round 74. His effort helped the Tigers to a fourth place finish out of 11 teams.
On March 10-11, Bordeaux competed at the Fresno Lexus Classic and recorded a 12th place showing at Fort Washington Golf and Country Club. Bordeaux shot a 4-under par, 54-hole total of 212 (73-68-71), marking his sixth Top 20 individual finish this season. His second round 68 propelled him to within four shots of the lead. The Tigers came in fifth place out of 20 schools.
Henderson returned to the scene of one of her victories last season - the Spartan Invitational (March 3-4). In a tournament that dates back to 1983, she became the only two-time winner of the event. She fired a 54-hole total of 218 (71-71-75) to finish two shots ahead of Pia Halbig of California. The Anteaters placed third as a team in the 15-team field.
The title was Henderson's sixth of her career and first of the 2007-08 season.
Henderson also put forth a strong effort at the Western Regional Preview in Lincoln, Calif. on March 31-April 1. She posted her third top 10 effort of the year, finishing sixth among 104 golfers. She fired a tournament low 70 in the final round to secure her top 10 finish. Henderson had a 54-hole total of 220 (74-76-70) as she led the Anteaters to a sixth place showing out of 19 schools.
