UC Davis sophomore Austin Graham (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente HS) and Long Beach State senior Kay Hoey (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga HS) were tabbed Big West Men’s and Women’s Golfer of the Month for their stellar performances during the month of September.

Graham won medalist honors at the Kansas Invitational by four strokes with a six-under-par 210.  His first career tournament victory guided the Aggies to a first-place team finish.  The following week at the Wolverine Intercollegiate, Graham carded his second Top 15 finish with a 2-under-par 211.  His second round score of 67 was the team’s lowest of the month.  Graham, who was UC Davis’ top finisher at two of the three events, shot 221 at the Husky Invitational, tying him for 14th.

Hoey began her final season with Long Beach State registering two top 10 finishes.  At the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic, Hoey fired 214 (71-69-74) to place seventh among 95 golfers.  Three weeks later, the All-American claimed medalist honors at the University of Colorado Heather Farr Memorial Invitational.  Her opening round of 65 tied her personal best as she recorded the same score in the spring of 2007 at the Peg Barnard Collegiate in Palo Alto.  This was Hoey’s first tournament victory since winning the Big West Conference Championship in 2007.

Others nominated: Men - Matt Grusch (UC Santa Barbara), Ricky Montanez (Long Beach State), Bryan Harris (UC Irvine)
Women - Alice Kim (UC Davis), Jane Chin (UC Irvine)
