UC Irvine senior Brian Edick (Valencia, CA/Hart HS) and UC Irvine junior Selaneé Henderson (Apple Valley, CA/Granite Hills HS) were selected Big West Men's and Women's Golfer of the Month for March after a winning spree that saw the two Anteaters combine to win three tournaments.
Edick earned individual medalist honors at the Fresno State Lexus Classic on March 12-13 after firing a 7-under three round total of 209. It was his first individual title at UC Irvine. Edick shot a final-round 67 to tie for the low round of the tournament. He also carded a 68 in the second round. Edick's performance helped the Anteaters finish second in the 15-team field. Edick attempted to compete in the Callaway Golf Invitational earlier in the month, but had to withdraw in the first round on Mar. 5 due to a hand injury.
Henderson became just the second UCI women's golfer to win back-to-back tournaments as she captured medalist honors at the Spartan Invitational and Anteater Invitational. The win at the Spartan Invitational was the fourth of her career and made her the all-time leader at UCI, adding her fifth three weeks later at the Anteater Invitational. She had rounds of 69-71-70 for a three-round total of 6-under 210 in the 72-player field at the Spartan Invitational on March 5-6. Henderson was the only golfer to shoot under par in the first round of the Anteater Invitational (March 26-27), carding a tournament low 69. She shot 72 and 75 the next two rounds for a total of 216 in the 84-player field.
