UC Irvine's Lyndsay DePaul was named National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week by collegeswimming.com after an impressive performance at the 2007 Big West Swimming & Diving Championships last week.
DePaul, who was tabbed 2007 Big West Female Athlete of the Year, won all three of her solo events and was a member of the winning 200 medley relay team. The freshman from Orange, Calif., won the 400 IM with the 10th best time in the country at 4:14.25. She also swam a mark of 2:00.39 in the 200 IM to grab the top prize. A time of 1:59.30 in the 200 fly awarded DePaul her third first place honor of the four-day event. Her times in the 200 IM and 400 IM are NCAA automatic qualifying times, while the 200 fly time is an NCAA "B" cut time.
DePaul will return to the pool on March 8-10 when she competes in the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in Minneapolis, Minn.
