Sean Shahi (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Aliso Niguel HS) and UC Riverside junior
Jennifer Bermingham (Long Beach, Calif./Millikan HS) won each of their respective tournaments and were selected Big West Men's and Women's Golfer of the Month for November.
Shahi tied for medalist honors with Tennessee's Charles Ford with 16-under totals of 200. He shot a 7-under 65 in the opening round of the three-day Turtle Bay Resort Invitational in Kahuku, Hawaii, following that up with rounds of 67 and 68.
His performance helped the Anteaters to a 2nd place finish in the 21-team field. It was UCI's best showing in five fall tournaments, four of which have resulted in top-five team finishes.
Shahi ranks second on the team in scoring average at 70.73 through 15 rounds.
Bermingham captured her third career Big West Golfer of the Month award, including her second this fall, after winning the Cal Poly/Lamkin Cup. She also led the Highlanders to the team victory.
She shot a personal-best 4-under 68 in the opening round, which also doubled as a school record. Her 2-under par 142 was a school record score for 36 holes and also a personal-best. In addition, the 142 established a new course record at Cypress Ridge Golf Course.
Bermingham, who beat out 96 other golfers for the individual title, also won the Gonzaga MDA Women's Invitational in late September. Bermingham has now five career tournament titles to her credit.
The fall golf season is officially over. The men's and women's gear up for the spring season, which begins in January.
