UC Irvine opens the 2007-08 season this weekend when the Anteaters host the annual Lincoln Aquatics Shootout November 2-3 at the Anteater Aquatics Complex. Friday's event begins at noon, while Saturday's action starts at 10:00 a.m. Along with UC Irvine, Cal Poly, Hawaii, BYU and Cal State Northridge are set to compete on the men's side and UC Davis, Hawaii, BYU, Cal State Northridge, San Diego, Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount comprise the women's lineup.
The Lincoln Aquatics Shootout is a two-day event that takes place in two pools. On Friday there will be five men's teams and four women's teams competing in one pool and four more women's teams competing in a second pool. The event will be scored as dual meets for each team competing against the other schools in their pool. The top two women's teams in each pool Friday will compete against one another in the same format Saturday. Day one of the competition features a full 16-event schedule and is followed by 13 events on the second day.
The Pacific swim team travels to Pullman, Wash., to compete in the Debbie Pipher Memorial Invite November 2 at 5:00 p.m. and November 3 at noon. The two-day meet takes place at Gibb poll with Washington State, Ohio State, Pacific and Idaho squaring off. This is the third event of the season for the Tigers.
