Cal State Fullerton's Clark and Cal Poly's Daley Pick-Up This Week's Baseball Player And Pitcher Of The Week Honors

Titan outfielder Jared Clark and Cal Poly's Gary Daley were named Big West Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the week ending March 5, after their performances against nationally-ranked teams.

Clark, and the Cal State Fullerton Titans, faced No. 12 Pepperdine on Tuesday, followed by a three-game series at No. 2 Rice. In the four-game span, the sophomore outfielder batted 4-for-11 and scored four runs, while driving in six more. In the final game of the Rice series, the Castaic, Calif., native blasted a pair of homeruns and a double, to drive in a career-high six runners and score three of his own, in the 15-4 upset win. A day earlier he added a leadoff triple and later scored to tie the game at 1-1. Cal State Fullerton went 1-2 against the number two team in the country.

Facing No. 25 San Diego, right-handed pitcher Gary Daley (Grass Valley, Calif.) threw eight scoreless innings and allowing only three hits and one walk. He struck out a career-high eight and currently third in the conference in batters struck out with 35. Cal Poly would go on and down San Diego, 4-0. Daley improves to 3-2 as the Mustang's Friday night starter. This is the first honor for the Mustangs this season.
