A complete-game shutout earned Wes Roemer (Covine, Calif.) Big West Baseball Pitcher of the Week, while an impressive showing at the plate gave Matt Berezay (Manteca, Calif.) Pacific's first Big West Baseball Player of the Week honors, for the week ending March 12.

On the mound, Roemer shined as Cal State Fullerton's Friday-night starter against the East Carolina Pirates. During the contest he struck out a career-high 12 batters and gave up eight hits, en route to a complete-game shutout, the first of his career. The right-handed sophomore extended his season-long streak to 45 innings pitched without a walk, as he carried the Titans to a 5-0 victory over the Pirates. Roemer, posting a 1.40 ERA, has compiled 46 strikeouts without allowing a free pass in six starts this year.

Last week the Pacific Tigers traveled to Texas to compete in the Baylor Tournament. In the three games the Tigers participated in, Berezay recorded a .462 batting average (6-for-13) and posted a slugging percentage of 1.154. In the 11-9 win over Louisiana Tech, the 5-11 outfielder hit two home runs and scored two runs, while driving in four more. Berezay's three runs and six RBI earned him a spot on the all-tournament team. The Tigers would conclude the tournament with a 1-2 record, which included a 4-3 loss to No. 19 Baylor.
