UC Irvine's Mark Wagner earned his first Big West Baseball Player of the Week award in the first week of 2005 action.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Mark Wagner, UC Irvine (Lakewood, Calif./Mayfair HS)

Junior catcher Mark Wagner helped the Anteaters to their third series win over California in four years, hitting .429 with five RBI. He had a home run in his first at-bat on the way to a 10-1 opening win, and a two-run shot in the third game helped UCI secure a 7-3 win.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Peter Eberhardt, Cal State Northridge (La Habra, Calif./Cerritos College)

Senior right-hander Peter Eberhardt notched his first career save with a pair of strikeouts in one inning of work against UNLV and then pitched six shutout innings in a 5-4, 15-inning Matador win. Coming in in the ninth, he struck out six to get the win.
