UC Irvine's Matt Anderson helped the Anteaters sweep No. 8 Washington.

Junior third baseman Matt Anderson gave the Anteaters a powerful lift in their sweep of No. 8 Washington, batting .667 in the series along with two doubles, one triple and three RBI. The triple scored one run in UC Irvine's 6-3 opening win, and an RBI double in the second game sparked a six-run first inning in the 8-3 victory. He went 2-for-3 in the third game, to secure UCI's first series win against the Huskies in four years.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
James Simmons, UC Riverside (Norco, Calif./Norco HS)

Freshman right-hander James Simmons kicked off his collegiate career by throwing a complete-game two-hitter against Nevada. He had a no-hitter going until one out in the seventh inning, retiring 11 straight at one stretch. He finished with nine strikeouts, including five of the first eight batters he faced.
