Wojciech Betlej (Mielec, Poland) tacked up his first Big West Male Swimmer of the Week honor with a stellar meet against a speedy Stanford squad. Betlej clocked three career-best times en route to taking second in the 100 butterfly (53.61) and third in both the 100 backstroke (51.43) and the 200 backstroke (1:53.40) events at the Tigers' dual meet at Stanford's Avery Aquatic Center.
Idaho sophomore Adriana Quirke (Eugene, Ore.) led the Vandals to their first meet win since the 1985 season with her three victories against Seattle University. Idaho reinstated its swimming program this season after a 19-year hiatus. Quirke is the first Idaho swimmer to earn a Big West Female Swimmer of the Week award. In the dual meet with Seattle, Quirke took first in the 200 freestyle (1:57.75) and the 500 freestyle (5:16.59), while also helping her Vandals to top honors in the 200 freestyle relay (1:41.96). Quirke went 25.51 in her leg of the first-place finish.
