Cal Poly senior Sam Herbert (Davis, Calif.) was named Big West Player of the Week. The Mustang outfielder exploded for nine RBI and nine runs scored in the team's six-game sweep over Hawaii-Hilo. Herbert batted .522 (12-for-23) for the week with four doubles, two home runs and two stolen bases. Both of his homers came in game three of the series, marking his second multi-homer game at Cal Poly.
Long Beach State sophomore Cesar Ramos (Pico Rivera, Calif.) was named Big West Pitcher of the Week. The 49er lefty earned his fifth win of the season with an 8-inning, one-run performance at Cal State Fullerton. Ramos allowed just three hits and one walk against the Titans, facing just three batters over the minimum. He needed just 35 pitches over the first four innings, before facing six batters in the fifth and giving up his only run. In seven of the eight innings, Ramos pitched to just three batters, benefitting from four double plays.
