LBSU's Vargas, Pacific's Stolp and CSF's Windsor Earn Big West Baseball Weekly Honors

Long Beach State junior Jason Vargas (Apple Valley, Calif.) was named Big West Player of the Week. The 49er all-around player went 7-for-10 (.700) with five runs scored and five RBI, including three doubles and a home run. Vargas drew three walks in the series against Cal Poly to post a .769 on-base percentage and produced a 1.300 slugging percentage. Vargas was the designated hitter in game one, the right fielder in game two and the winning starting pitcher in game three, going 6.1 innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts.

Pacific sophomore Eric Stolp (Oakhurst, Calif.) and Cal State Fullerton senior Jason Windsor (Saratoga, Calif.) were named Big West co-Pitchers of the Week. Stolp went 8.1 innings to defeat UC Irvine in a 2-1 ballgame. The Tiger right-hander allowed one unearned run six hits and no walks while striking out three. Windsor pitched a complete game shutout at UC Santa Barbara, his first career. The Titan righty struck out five and walked one batter while facing just two over the minumum for the game.
