LBSU's Weaver, UCI's Erickson and CP's Tietje Earn Baseball Weekly Honors

Cal Poly senior Chalon Tietje (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) was named Big West Player of the Week. The Mustang outfielder helped the club to a series sweep over Nevada, going 7-for-14 with two runs scored and seven RBI, including a double and a grand slam. It marks the second time this season Tietje wins the award.

Long Beach State junior Jered Weaver (Simi Valley, Calif.) and UC Irvine freshman Blair Erickson (Fair Oaks, Calif.) were named Big West co-Pitchers of the Week. The 49er right-hander struck out the first 10 batters he faced against BYU, which marks the second time this season he has accomplished the feat. Weaver earned his fifth win of the year, going 7.2 innings, giving up one run on two hits and one walk. He set a new career high with 15 strikeouts. Erickson preserved three Anteater one-run wins in their sweep over Baylor on the road. The UCI right-hander recorded three saves in 4.1 innings of work, allowing no runs on three hits and one walk. Erickson struck out eight batters in his three appearances, including five combined in the final innings of each game.
