Cal Poly's Tietje, Moser and LBSU's Weaver Earn Big West Baseball Weekly Honors

Cal Poly senior outfielder Chalon Tietje (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) was named Big West Player of the Week. Tietje helped the Mustangs to a 3-1 record last week, including a series sweep over Pepperdine. In game two against the Waves, he drove in the tying run in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings. For the week he batted .643 (9-for-14) with three runs scored and five RBI, including three doubles.

Long Beach State junior right-hander Jered Weaver (Simi Valley, Calif.) and Cal Poly senior righty Nolan Moser (Capistrano Beach, Calif.) were named Big West co-Pitchers of the Week. The 49er ace wins the award for the second straight week after going seven innings against USC. Weaver struck out a career-high 14, including 10 straight to start the game, allowing one run on two hits. Moser helped the Mustangs to victories in games one and three against Pepperdine, pitching 6.2 scoreless innings, recording a save in each appearance. Moser allowed just one hit in two outings and struck out three.
