UC Riverside junior Brendan Steele (Idyllwild, Calif.) was named Big West Male Golf Athlete of the Month after tying for fifth at the Bill Cullum/Countrywide Intercollegiate. Steele shot a 214 (-2) in the three-round tournament, including a 69 in the final round. The Highlanders finished in seventh place out of 21 teams. For the season, Steele is averaging a team-best 71.8 score per round.

Idaho freshman Cassie Castleman (Portland, Ore.) was named Big West Female Golf Athlete of the Month after winning the Heather Farr Memorial. Castleman shot a tournament-record 65 in the final round en route to a four-stroke victory. The score was also a course and school record, which helped the Vandals finish in a tie for fourth out of 17 teams. Castleman also finished eighth at the Bronco Fall Classic, hosted by Boise State, shooting an 80 and 76 at the two-round tournament.
