Big West Women's Water Polo Weekly Release No. 10
BIG WEST AT A GLANCE
HAWAI‘I HOSTS TOP COMPETITION
Hawai‘i hosts No. 1 USC in its home opener this weekend after 17 matches on neutral ground. The Rainbow Wahine return to competition after a two-week hiatus and jump right back in the thick of the action, taking on the No. 1 Trojans. So far this season, the Big West is 0-2 against USC, having faced CSUN and UC Irvine earlier this year. The match versus USC will open a five-game homestand as league play begins next week.
REPEAT
UC Davis’ Hannah Harvey became the first student-athlete this season to receive back-to-back women’s water polo player of the week honors. Not only has Harvey received the award in consecutive weeks, but she is the first to receive the honor twice in 2016.
ON DECK FOR THE BEACH
Long Beach State will host Bucknell before traveling to play Whittier on the road. The 49ers have won six of their last seven matches heading in competition this week. Senior goalkeeper Alexis Butler is just four saves away from matching her total saves from last season (76).
