UC Irvine Wins Eighth Big West Title
In a round that came down to the final putt, UC Irvine narrowly secured its eighth Big West Conference men’s golf title with a one-stroke advantage over top-seeded UC Davis. Playing on the “Ike” Eisenhower course (par 72, 6,989 yards) at the Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms in City of Industry, Calif., the ‘Eaters entered the final round tied for first with host Cal State Fullerton, but the Titans struggled on day three. UC Davis surged in the final round but UC Irvine managed to hold off the Aggies with a three-round total of 5-under 852.
