  • Cal Poly catcher Ryan Tayman slashed .529/.550/.880 with nine hits, four RBI and eight runs scored to win The Big West Baseball Field Player of the Week award. It is Tayman's second career weekly honor from the conference, having won it once earlier this season.

  • The Mustang junior started the week with a three-hit night, including four runs scored, in a 15-10 road win at Fresno State on Tuesday.

  • Tayman hit a home run, drew two walks and scored two runs in Cal Poly's 11-3 series-opening victory against Long Beach State, Friday night.

  • The Arroyo Grande, Calif. product had 3-for-4 performance with one run scored and one RBI in a 6-2 win in Saturday's game two versus the Dirtbags.

  • In an 8-3 triumph over Long Beach State in the final game of the regular season on Sunday, the Mustang catcher recorded two hits, one RBI and one run.

  • With a sweep of the Dirtbags, Cal Poly earned a share of the Big West regular-season title with a 22-8 conference mark and went 33-21 overall. Tayman enters the postseason hitting .351 with 16 home runs, 53 RBI and 48 runs.

  • Hawai'i starting pitcher Isaiah Magdaleno threw a complete game one-hit shutout to earn The Big West Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. It is Magdaleno's third straight and fourth overall career weekly honor, having won it thrice earlier this season.

  • The right-handed starter threw 9.0 innings allowing no runs, one hits and no walks, while collecting 14 strikeouts, as the Rainbow Warriors defeated CSUN 4-0 on Wednesday.

  • The Los Angeles, Calif. is one of two pitchers in the country this year to throw multiple nine-inning shutouts (Ben Cherico, Saint Louis). Magdaleno is the first pitcher nationally since 2017 (Devin Hemmerich, Norfolk State) to throw multiple nine-inning one-hit shuouts in a single season.

  • Cal Poly is 33-21 overall and finished the regular season fourth in the league standings with a 16-14 league record. Magdaleno is 7-4 with a 2.33 ERA and 112 strikeouts in 89.0 innings of work on the mound this season.
