No. 6 Seed Edges Out No. 3 Seed Cal State Fullerton in Women's Tennis Second Round


SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- No. 6 seed CSUN edged out No. 3 seed Cal State Fullerton with a 4-3 victory in the second round of the 2026 Big West Women's Tennis Championship at the Barnes Tennis Center. CSUN secured the doubles point by winning two out of three matches, which proved decisive as both teams split the singles matches 3-3.

The doubles matches set the tone for the day. Angela Ho and Nicole West (CSUN) defeated Emilie Lugon-Moulin and Seha Yu (Cal State Fullerton) 7-5 to secure their match. Meanwhile, Satsuki Ishikawa and Madison Shepperson (CSUN) won convincingly against Milena Gevorgyan and Madison Schwarz (Cal State Fullerton) with a 6-1 score. Dana Kunza and Martina Markov (Cal State Fullerton) managed a win over Sandra Arguelles and Emma Moratalla Sanz (CSUN) 6-3 in their doubles match.

In singles action, Angela Ho (CSUN) defeated Martina Markov (Cal State Fullerton) in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. Sandra Arguelles (CSUN) also won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, against Dana Kunza (Cal State Fullerton). Nicole West (CSUN) triumphed over Amelia Zylberman (Cal State Fullerton) in a three-set contest, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3. 

Cal State Fullerton's Emilie Lugon-Moulin claimed victory against Emma Moratalla Sanz (CSUN) with a 6-1, 6-3 win, while Seha Yu (Cal State Fullerton) overcame Satsuki Ishikawa (CSUN) 6-3, 7-5. Milena Gevorgyan (Cal State Fullerton) secured a win over Tallia Harper (CSUN) with a 6-3, 6-2 scoreline. Overall, CSUN demonstrated strong performances to secure the win.
