SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- No. 4 seed Long Beach State defeated the No. 8 seed Hawai'i 4-0 in the second round of the 2026 Big West Women's Tennis Championship at the Barnes Tennis Center. Long Beach State secured the doubles point with wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 pairs. In singles, the Beach clinched the victory with wins from the No. 1, No. 5, and No. 6 positions.
In doubles action, Long Beach State claimed victory in two of the three matches.
Cecilia Costa and
Paulina Franco (LBSU) defeated
Grete Gull and
Sophie Rachor (UH) with a score of 6-4 in Match 1.
Daisy Carpenter and
Diana De Simone (LBSU) also secured a win against
Allaire Berl and
Isabella Pampulov (UH), finishing 6-4 in Match 3. Meanwhile,
Hannah Galindo and
Makeilah Nepomuceno (UH) overcame
Pamela Badillo and
Thea Jagare (LBSU) with a decisive 6-2 score in Match 2.
In singles competition, Long Beach State continued its strong performance. Costa rallied to defeat Gull in a three-set battle with scores of 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in Match 1. Badillo secured a win over Berl with a 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 result in Match 5. Daria Malaescu dominated Pampulov in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3 in Match 6.
