The seeds are set for the 2026 Big West Women's Tennis Championship, held April 22-25 at Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.
The championship is a ten-team tournament with the top two seeds receiving double byes into Friday’s semifinals. The winner will earn the conference's automatic bid into the 2026 NCAA Women's Tennis Championship.
2026 Big West regular-season champion UC Santa Barbara (15-8) enters as the No. 1 seed with a perfect 9-0 record in league play. The Gauchos are ranked No. 48 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) team rankings. Cal Poly (12-9) earned the No. 2 seed with a 7-2 league mark.
By earning the top two seeds, UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly automatically advance to Saturday’s semifinals at 10 a.m. PT and 1 p.m. PT, respectively.
The No. 3 seed went to Cal State Fullerton with a 6-3 conference record. The Titans will face No. 10 seed UC Riverside (3-18, 0-9 BW) in the first round on Wednesday, April 22 at 12 p.m. PT.
Long Beach State (12-10), UC Davis (12-11) and CSUN (14-7) finished the regular season with identical league records of 5-4. Through tiebreaking procedures, the Beach came out as the No. 4 seed and will go up against No. 9 seed UC San Diego (7-15, 2-7 BW) on Wednesday, April 22 at 9 a.m. The Aggies received the No. 5 seed match up with No. 8 seed Hawai‘i (6-10, 3-6 BW), also at 9 a.m. on Wednesday. The No. 6 seed Matadors will face No. 7 seed UC Irvine (12-8, 3-6 BW) at noon PT on Wednesday.
The Anteaters edged out the Rainbow Wahine for the higher seed with a 4-3 victory in a head-to-head matchup during the regular season.
The advancing teams of the LBSU-UCSD and UCD-UH matchup will play each other in Thursday’s second round at 10 a.m. PT. The winner of the CSF-UCR and CSUN-UCI matches will go against each other in the other half of the second round at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
The semifinals will take place on Friday with UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly's spots guaranteed. Saturday’s championship match will start at 10 a.m. PT.
Last year, No. 1 seed UC Santa Barbara captured the title with an exciting 4-2 victory versus No. 2 seed Cal Poly.
