No. 2 Seed Cal Poly Edges Out No. 6 Seed CSUN to Advance to Final


SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- No. 2 seed Cal Poly edged No. 6 seed CSUN with a 4-3 victory in a semifinals matchup in the 2026 Big West Women's Tennis Championship, Friday at the Barnes Tennis Center. The decisive point came from Cal Poly's No. 4 singles match/ Although the Matadors claimed the doubles point, Cal Poly's top four singles players clinched the match, overcoming a strong effort from CSUN's lower singles lineup.

In doubles action, Natalie Lynch and Candela Aparisi (Cal Poly) secured a 6-4 victory over Angela Ho and Nicole West (CSUN) in the No. 1 match. Sandra Arguelles and Emma Moratalla Sanz (CSUN) defeated Jessica MacCallum and Sarah MacCallum (Cal Poly) 6-3 in match two. CSUN's Satsuki Ishikawa and Madison Shepperson claimed a 6-4 win against Kennedy Buntrock and Tia Bonita Jakupovic-Kljako (Cal Poly) in match three.

In singles competition, Kennedy Buntrock (Cal Poly) edged Angela Ho (CSUN) in a tightly contested match, winning 7-5, 6-4. Jessica MacCallum (Cal Poly) defeated Emma Moratalla Sanz (CSUN) in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. Candela Aparisi (Cal Poly) also earned a straight-set win, defeating Nicole West (CSUN) 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 position. Alexandra Ozerets (Cal Poly) triumphed in three sets against Satsuki Ishikawa (CSUN), 6-2, 2-6, 6-0 for the clinch. For the Maetadors, Tallia Harper (CSUN) won 6-4, 6-4 over Natalie Lynch (Cal Poly) at No. 5. Sandra Arguelles (CSUN) secured a victory in the No. 6 singles match, overcoming Sarah MacCallum (Cal Poly) 7-5, 6-4.
