The Big West Gets Ready for 2025 Cross Country Season

On your mark! The 2025 NCAA cross country season gets underway in approximately two weeks with several teams competing on Friday, Aug. 29, the first allowable competition date set by the NCAA.

The 2025 Big West Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Hawai‘i at Queen Kapi?olani Regional Park on Friday, Oct. 31. It will be the third time that the conference meet will be held in the 50th state, the other two years being 2016 and 1992. A preview of the course and race will take place on Sept. 13, as several Big West teams will participate in the Big Wave Invitational held on the same course.

Last season's Big West Championship saw the Cal Poly men and women take both team titles for the third year in a row. In the men’s 8K, the Mustangs' Davis Bove crossed the finish line in to take the individual crown for a second consecutive time. Cal Poly took their record 20th team title with the top three finishers and all five scorers in the top 10, dominating the competition with a mere 22 points, 51 ahead of second-place Cal State Fullerton (73). In the women’s 6K, the Mustangs had four in the top 10, including the individual winner Schuyler Gooley (19:47.7), for 33 points. It was the Cal Poly’s 10th team title in program history.
