  • 8136Along with a career milestone and team victory, UC Irvine senior Hunter Hernandez has earned back-to-back nods as Big West Player of the Week.  

  • Hernandez became the 16th member of the UCI 1,000-point club in Saturday’s 77-57 win over California Baptist.  

  • Entering the game 21 points shy of the four-figure plateau, Hernandez led all players with 27 to notch a fourth 20+ point performance this season.  

  • The 5-foot-9 guard from San Jose, Calif., shot 40 percent from the field hitting 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and went a perfect 8-for-8 at the charity stripe.  

  • Hernandez added four rebounds, a season-best four assists, and one steal with zero turnovers as the Anteaters exteded their win streak to eight and improved to 9-2 overall to tie the program’s best start through 11 games.  

  • For the season, Hernandez is tops on the squad with 16.7 points per game, which lands in fourth in The Big West. With 59 total swishes, Hernandez is shooting 89.4 percent from the free throw line to rate 24th nationally.
